Regional plans for power grid improvements

Ofgem’s Regional Energy Strategic Plans aim to create integrated, regional energy system planning. Plans will focus on reducing reducing costs, and making it faster for regional energy companies to build new networks, particularly in light on the renewable energy transition.

A new National Energy System Operator will soon be set up, to oversee the plans expected to start in 2026. Wales and Scotland will be their own respective regions, with their own strategic boards, comprised of local governments, sector experts, and he network operators.
