What Does ECO4 Cover?

The UK ECO4 scheme, also known as Energy Company ECO4 Obligations, includes a variety of policies and measures to improve energy efficiency and home heating in the UK. Here are the key aspects covered by the ECO4 system:

Coverage:
The ECO4 scheme applies to England, Scotland and Wales.

Time Frame:
The ECO4 program is valid from April 2022 to March 2026.

Energy efficiency measures:
The program aims to provide energy savings and heating improvements to homes in the UK.

Continuous:
Up to 10% of distributions from the previous ECO3 program can be carried over to ECO4, subject to certain exclusions.

Supply chain support:

From April 2022 to June 2022, measures can be applied under ECO3 rules to support supply chain delivery, subject to certain exclusions.

Early delivery:
Early delivery of ECO4 measures in any gap between ECO3 regulations will be permitted.

Targeted households:
The ECO4 project focuses on supporting the lowest income households. Subsidy households are subject to a qualifying vehicle check and can meet up to 50% of the obligation target under the ECO4 Flex reform, which is aimed at low-income households that do not receive benefits. ECO4 Flex is voluntary for local, Scottish and Welsh governments and mandatory suppliers, and it aims to cover at least 3.5 million households.

Eligible homes:
Only homes in the D-G energy efficiency category are eligible for ECO4. For social housing and private rental housing, ECO4 only supports housing in the E-G groups.

Improvement goal:
ECO4 targets a minimum of 150,000 improvements to private housing through the Energy Company Obligation Fund (EFG).

Solid wall measurements:
The program aims for a minimum of 90,000 solid wall measurements over a four-year period.

Replacing boilers and heating:
There is a limit of 5,000 per year to replace broken boilers and electric storage heating (ESH) systems with efficient heating. Upgrading of inefficient heating systems with efficient heating is not limited. Repairs are also limited to 5,000 homes per year, under certain conditions.
